Online auction sites allows you to bid for the prices that you are willing to pay and you can even out-bid others and still arrive at a bargain price. Also finding used cars and trucks from online auction sites gives you the opportunity to look at a huge catalog of car and truck models available without having to leave your house. Most brands and models can be found online for sale. From sports cars to every day sedan, trucks, 4-wheel drives, MPVs and more.

Before committing yourself to a purchase, it is necessary to check out the cars and trucks that you have identified for purchase. Contact the owner/seller and make an appointment to view the vehicle. The following are a list of items that I would go through when purchasing used cars and trucks.

• Paper work - Check the legal documentation to ensure that the seller is the owner of the vehicle. Double check the car registration, car insurance, car licence plate, car log book and so on and ensure everything is in order.
• The condition of the Car or Truck - the bodywork, tyres, car interior, engine, electrics.
• Car Bodywork - Check the paintwork for signs of repair and rusting. Repair work carried out after accidents can be spotted easily if the paint job is not done properly. Corrosion can be a problem especially for old vehicles.
• Tyres - Check that the tyres are not worn or require replacement. This includes the spare tyre. Replacement of tyres are costly.
• Interior - The interior must be of acceptable condition. No torn seats, seat belts, rear view mirror, floor carpet must be checked.
• Electrics - Check all lights and switches are working, windscreen wipers, air-conditioning system (if applcable), indicators and displays.
• Engine - The main component of the car needs to be check for worn belts and pipes, no leaks, does not produce black exhaust. Get a car mechanic to check for you if possible.
• Test Drive - Request a test drive from the car owner. You can find out alot about the car when you do a test. Check the steering, the brakes, see how the engine when rev up the engine. See that the car suspension do not bottom when going over bumpy roads.
